This story is from Randy and Karen Inman.
After a long day of caring for animals, Randy and Karen decided to go to
dinner. As they were leaving the restaurant, they received a call from the
Sheriff’s Office. The Sheriff’s Office found a fox, which had been hit by a
car and was still alive. As luck would have it, the fox was not far from
where they were, just over in Hastings. So they headed on their way, not
sure what they would find.
When Randy and Karen arrived, the fox was nowhere to be found. After
searching for over an hour, they decided to check the area one last time.
Finally, the fox was spotted in some weeds near a ditch. They carefully
inspected the fox and discovered he was bleeding from his mouth and nose,
missing some teeth and had bitten his tongue nearly in half.
Realizing his condition was severe; they loaded the fox into the van and
hurried him back to the rehabilitation center. They were not sure if he
would survive the night. However, the fox did survive the night and after
five days of rest and intravenous fluids, he started trying to stand on his
own again. After two weeks, he was able to eat and drink on his own.
Finally, after
nearly a month of care, the fox was returned to the woods near where he was
found, but safely away from the road.
