You are Mother Nature’s
orphan,
How sad that this
should be,
Another soul’s misfortune is
Such a precious gift to me.
I drink the wonderous
beauty of you,
Little hands reaching for security.
Furry face, curious eyes these two,
Warm at my breast, feed on love from me.
Wise and willful,
learning the ways,
Feeding well and growing strong.
Napping and yawning through the day
And playing all night long.
Now, this place seems to be blessed
With your games and gaiety,
Mischievous clown, bring happiness
Where sorrow used to be.
I love you little
fellow of the forest,
I revere you my spirit of the trees.
I have you in my hearth and home
But long to see you free.
So, I gave you back to your real home,
And watched you come to peace
You looked back once to show your love,
Then vanished like smoke in the breeze.
