"Calls of The Sandhills"

I hear the calls of the sandhill cranes
Echoing through my heart
And I must memorize the sounds
Before the birds depart.

I watch the ancient cypress stand
Shiver and dance in the wind
Etched in my mind for eternity
As the face of a childhood friend.

I breathe the air wafting across
Soft golden fields in the sun.
And store the memories deep in my soul
Where nature and I live as one.
